This year we are introducing a members-only award designed to further support the incredible work you do that provides financial support and helps your group thrive. This exclusive opportunity is available only to active members of the international Institute of Wisconsin and will be awarded at our annual Gala on July 11, celebrating our shared commitment to cultural preservation and connection. First place will receive $3,000 and second place will receive $2,000.
Preservation of Cultural Heritage Award – Requirements

Applicants for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Award must submit a proposal describing a specific project for which the awarded funds will be used. The proposal should clearly outline the project’s goals, planned activities, and expected outcomes, with a particular focus on how the project will contribute to preserving, promoting, or strengthening cultural heritage and identity within the community.

Projects may include, but are not limited to, cultural programming, documentation or archiving efforts, restoration of cultural artifacts, educational initiatives, or community-based heritage events. Applicants should demonstrate the cultural significance of the project and its potential long-term impact.

Each applicant is also required to design a 20 x 30 inch poster describing their proposed project. These posters will be printed by IIW and displayed at the gala event.

Two awards will be presented:

One award of $3,000 will be selected by the IIW Preservation of Cultural Heritage Committee.
A second award of $2,000 will be determined by a vote of attendees at the gala.
Award recipients will be required to use all funds by December 31, 2027.

To receive the final 25% of the awarded funding, recipients must submit a one-page final report upon project completion. The report should summarize the project, its outcomes, and its impact on cultural preservation. It must also include photos documenting the project and its activities.

Failure to submit the final report and supporting documentation may result in forfeiture of the remaining funds.
